Giovedì 16 maggio siamo stati impegnati più del solito fra le reti e il tavolo di inanellamento, poichè in tutto durante la giornata sono stati catturati 1050 uccelli. Un numero non poi così straordianario per la nostra stazione, abituata a mesi di maggio impegnativi e faticosi. Tuttavia e uno dei giorni con i conteggi totali giornalieri più alti della stagione 2019. Rimane giorno record indiscusso per la stagione 2019 il 31 marzo, quando in una sola serata abbiamo preso 570 pettirossi e in tutto 1300 uccelli.
On Thursday the 16th we have been a little bit more busy at the nets, compared to the past days, because we caught 1050 in a day. Such amount of birds isn ot so exceptional for the station of Ponza, where we are used to very challenging and tiring days of May. However, on Thursday it was one of the days with the higher number of captures of the whole 2019 season. The undisputable record day of 2019 is the 31st of March, when we caught 1300 birds in total and 570 Robins in the evening only.
I giorni scorsi sono tornati ad essere più quieti, mentre oggi i numeri sono molto bassi.
Fra oggi e domani la stazione verrà smantellata e la stagione di inanellamento chiusa. Già ieri abbiamo smontato la rete della cima per avvantaggiarci, perchè il forte vento non ci avrebbe permesso di riaprirla più.
The past days after the 16th brought us back to quiet, and today the numbers of captures are even lower.
Between today and tomorrow we will start to take down the station and end the season. We already took down the transect on the top, since the wind wouldn't have allowed us to open it anymore.
Nonostante il maltempo, l'attività di inanellamento a Ponza si riconferma un'esperienza formativa entusiasmante sia per noi di CISCA e, ci auguriamo, sia per i volontari e simpatizzanti della stazione.
Despite the bad weather, the ringing activity in Ponza is still an excting training experience both for us of CISCA and, we hope, for the volunteers and visitors of the station.
