Il 21 aprile 2022 alle 8 del mattino la stazione di Ponza ha avuto l'onore di inanellare il primo esemplare per l'Italia di Culbianco di Seebohm (Oenanthe seebohmi).
Un maschio giovane, arrivato durante condizioni di forte vento da sudest con cielo coperto. Si potrebbe ipotizzare, ma difficile da verificare, che sia stato proprio questo vento a sospingerlo fino alle nostra coste.
Infatti, questa specie è rara e accidentale nella nostra nazione, come si può vedere dalla mappa tratta da Avibase (www.avibase.bsc-eoc.org).
On the 21st of April 2022 at 8 am the Ponza station had the honor of ringing the first individual for Italy of Atlas wheatear (Oenanthe seebohmi).
A young male, arrived during strong southeast wind conditions with overcast skies. It could be hypothesized, but difficult to verify, that it was these wind gusts that pushed it to our shores.
In fact, this species is rare and accidental in our country, as can be seen from the map taken from Avibase (www.avibase.bsc-eoc.org).
Il Culbianco di Seebohm è un uccello passeriforme che nidifica nella regione del Maghreb del Nord Africa e sverna nel Sahel occidentale. In passato era considerata una sottospecie del culbianco come O. oenanthe seebohmi, ma è stata riclassificata come specie distinta dal CIO nel 2021.
E' un migrator che preferisce le zone di prateria e si nutre di insetti e invertebrati.
La sua presenza in Italia era stata segnalata due anni fa in Abruzzo, ma non ne era mai stato inanellato alcun esemplare fino ad ora.
The Atlas wheatear is a passerine bird that nests in the Maghreb region of North Africa and overwinters in the western Sahel. It was formerly considered a subspecies of the Wheatear as O. oenanthe seebohmi, but was reclassified as a distinct species by the IOC in 2021.
It is a migrator who prefers grassland open areas and feeds on insects and invertebrates.
Its presence in Italy had been reported two years ago in Abruzzo, but no specimen had ever been ringed up until now.
