A partire da sabato 11 marzo le reti sono aperte presso la stazione di inanellamento di Ponza.
Una squadra di operativi ed efficienti volontari ci ha permesso di montare velocemente i transetti, di assemblare la tenda di inanellamento e di preparare l'appartamento base della stazione. Le reti sono state aperte la sera stessa del montaggio!
I primi dieci giorni sono passati all'insegna del sole e della calma di vento (a parte il weekend appena passato leggermente nuvoloso). Queste condizioni meteorologiche e una media di catture giornaliere di circa 200 uccelli al giorno (circa 15-20 uccelli a giro), ci permettono di effettuare con calma e dovizia le analisi biometriche e il riconoscimento di età e sesso - ove possibile - degli individui catturati.
Le specie sono numerose, come visibile dalle foto pubblicate, il passo è variegato. Fra i circa 2000 uccelli inanellati fino ad ora le specie più comuni sono Pettirosso, Saltimpalo, Luì piccolo e Tordo. Con l'inizio della seconda settimana di apertura la specie del Prisopolone si è aggiunta ai nostri schedari, mentre ieri abbiamo avuto l'onore di una new entry per la stagione di Ponza: un bell'esemplare di Forapaglie castagnolo (vedi foto sotto).

Starting from Saturday the 11th of March, the nets have been opened at the ringing station of Ponza. A dream-team of operational and efficient volunteers helped us to quickly settle the transects, to assemble the ringing tent and prepare the apartment functioning as the base for the station. The nets have been opened the same evening we built the station!
The first ten days were sunny (apart from a just slightly cloudy weekend) and almost no wind blew through our nets . These weather conditions and an average daily catch of 200 birds per day (about 15-20 birds per net-round), allowed us to make relaxed and accurate biometric analysis and ageing and sexing analysis - where possible - of the captured individuals .
The species are numerous, as noticeable thanks the photos in the previous gallery, the passage of birds is varied. Among the approximately 2,000 birds ringed so far, the most common species are Robin, Stonechat, Chiffchaff and Thrush. With the start of the second week of activity the species called Tree pipit has been added to our ringing registers, while, yesterday, we had the honor of a new entry for Ponza station: a nice specimen of Moustached Warbler (see single photo above).
