Il vento è il protagonista delle ultime giornate a Ponza. Mercoledì abbiamo tenuto aperte solo 4 reti, le meno esposte, con cui abbiamo catturato un totale di 7 individui. Ieri, la giornata è stata ventosa ma soleggiata e il numero di catture totali è salito a 20.
Nella foto un Regolo maschio. Il sesso dell'esemplare nella foto è facilmente distinguibile dalla striatura arancio sulla sommità del capo, che nelle femmine è solo gialla. Questa è la specie più piccola d'Europa: si pensi che il peso di un individuo si aggira intorno ai 4-8 grammi. Nonostante la piccola taglia, questi uccelli migrano dall'Europa Mediterranea fino ai Paesi del Nord.
Le popolazioni più cospicue si trovano infatti in Scandinavia, Russia e Germania.
The wind is the protagonist of the last days in Ponza. On Wednesday, we left open only 4 nets, the least exposed to gusts of wind, thanks to which we have captured a total of 7 individuals. Yesterday, the weather was windy but sunny and the total number of catches rose to 20.
In the picture a male of Goldcrest. The sex of the specimen in the photo is easily distinguishable from the orange streak on the top of the head, which in females is only yellow. This is the smallest species in Europe, considering that the weight of an individual is around 4-8 grams. Despite the small size, these birds migrate from Mediterranean Europe to the countries of the North. In fact, the most conspicuous populations are found in Scandinavia, Russia and Germany.
