Oggi, domenica 22 aprile si celebra a livello mondiale il Giorno della Terra, evento internazionale promosso dall'Onu che dal 1970 a oggi ha coinvolto più di 190 nazioni.
L'edizione di questa tematica è dedicata alla lotta all'inquinamento da plastica.
"L'inquinamento da plastica sta avvelenando i nostri oceani e le nostre terre, colpendo la vita marina e non solo e la nostra salute!" si legge sul sito internazionale dell'Earth Day.
Today, Sunday the 22nd of April, we celebrate the Earth Day, the international event promoted by the UN in 1970 that involves nowadays more than 190 countries in the world.
This year edition is dedicated to the fight against plastic pollution.
"Plastic pollution is poisoning our oceans and land, injuring marine life - and not only, and affecting our health!" is written in the Earth Day organization official website.
Alla stazione di Ponza abbiamo visto con i nostri occhi come la plastica possa creare danni alla natura, e all'avifauna in particolare. All'inizio della stagione, abbiamo trovato un merlo con la zampa completamente ingarbugliata e ferita da un filo di plastica.
At the Ponza station too we witnessed how plastic is damaging nature, and bird wildlife in particular. at the beginning of the season we found this black bird with the claw entangled and wounded by a plastic thread.

Per chi se lo fosse perso, ecco il Doodle di Google per la Giornata Mondiale della Terra 2018. Nel video viene intervistata Dr. Jane Goodall, famosa antropologa e etologa inglese. Ne riportiamo alcune parole: "Ogni singolo individuo è importante, ogni singolo individuo ha un certo impatto sul nostro pianeta ogni giorno, e noi abbiamo la possibilità di scegliere che tipo di cambiamento vogliamo apportare".

CISCA e la stazione di inanellamento di Ponza ci tengono a partecipare alle celebrazioni per la Giornata Mondiale per la Terra 2018: anche noi siamo dalla parte del nostro pianeta e i nostri studi possono contribuire a capire meglio in che misura l'uomo sta influenzando la vita degli animali e degli ecosistemi.
