Settimana allietata da specie che non si incontrano sovente alle nostre reti: abbiamo catturato il secondo Occhione (Burhinus oedicnemus) della storia della nostra stazione. L’Occhione deve il proprio nome comune, ai suoi occhi molto grandi, che prmettono una grande abilità visiva percui riesce ad essere attivo anche di notte.
Abbiamo poi inanellato un bellissimo esemplare di Falco lodolaio (Falco subbuteo).
This week we had the pleasure of meeting species that do not often see in our nets: we have captured the second Stone-curlew (Burhinus oedicnemus) in the history of our station. The Stone-curlew, owes its common name to its habit of nesting in rocky areas.
We then ringed a beautiful specimen of the Hobby (Falco subbuteo).
Alcuni dei nostri visitatori arrivano da lontano, o, per lo meno, hanno fatto molta strada nella loro vita e questo ce lo confermano le ricatture. Questa settimana abbiamo preso una sterpazzola già inanellata in Ungheria, ad esempio.
Some of our visitors come from afar, or, at least, have travelled a long way in their lives and this is confirmed by the retraps. This week we caught an already ringed Whitethroat in Hungary, for example.
Molte altre nuove specie per la stagione si sono aggiunte negli ultimi giorni alla nostra lista delle catture: il lucherino (Carduelis cannabina, nella foto un maschio e lo si può riconoscere dalla testa nera), il passero solitario (Monticola solitarius, dal piumaggio blu), la rondine rossiccia (Cecropis daurica, una specie non molto comune), lo strillozzo (Emberiza calandra, con il tipico becco robusto da granivoro), e la monachella (Oenanthe hispanica, dai colori contrastanti e marcati).
In the last days, many other new species for the season have been added to our catch list: the Siskin (Carduelis cannabina, in the photo a male that can be recognized by the black head), the Bue rock thrush (Monticola solitarius, with blue plumage), the Red-rumped swallow (Cecropis daurica, a not very common species), the Corn bunting (Emberiza calandra, with the typical robust granivorous beak), and the Black-eared wheatear (Oenanthe hispanica, with contrasting and marked colors).
