Questa settimana abbiamo accolto alla nostra stazione ben due uccelli già inanellati altrove: un beccafico con un anello della Slovenia (sinistra e centro) e una rondine, catturata proprio stamattina, con una anello spagnolo (destra). Questo tipo di ricatture sono molto preziose poichè forniscono informazioni importantissime per aiutarci a ritracciare le rotte migratorie e gli spostamenti degli uccelli, e quindi per darci più risorse per una migliore conservazione delle specie.
Nonostante un po' di meteo sfavorevola all'inizio della settimana, abbiamo poi trascorso dei di attività ad un buon ritmo, il che non ci ha dato il permesso di distrarci per ammirare la meravigliosa balena grigia che è stata avvistata dalle coste d Ponza mercoledì 14 aprile 2021.
Abbiamo avuto molte nuove specie per l'anno in corso (Succiacapre - Caprimulgus europaeus; Tortora selvatica - Streptopelia turtur; Pispola golarossa - Anthus cervinus; Cutrettola subsp. Feldegg - Motacilla flava subsp. Feldegg; Cannareccione - Acrocephalus arundinaceus; Codirossone - Monticola saxatilis; Rigogolo - Oriolus oriolus; Rondine rossiccia - Cecropis daurica; Topino - Riparia riparia), fra cui anche uno splendido esemplare di Albanella minore (Circus pygargus).
This week we welcomed at our station two birds already ringed elsewhere: a garden warbler with a Slovenian ring (left and center) and a swallow, caught just this morning, with a Spanish ring (right). This type of retraps are very valuable as they provide very important information to help us trace the migratory routes and movements of birds, and therefore, they give us more resources for better conservation actions for the bird species.
Despite some unfavourable weather at the very beginning of the week, we then had some full days, with a good ringing pace, which did not allow us to get distracted from our nets and admire the wonderful gray whale which has been sighted from the coasts of Ponza on Wednesday the 14th of April 2021.
We had many new species for the ringing season 2021 (Nightjar - Caprimulgus europaeus; Turtle dove - Streptopelia turtur; Red-throated pipit - Anthus cervinus; Yellow wagtail subsp. Feldegg - Motacilla flava subsp. Feldegg; Great reed warbler - Acrocephalus arundinaceus; Rock thrush - Monticola saxatilis; golden oriole - Oriolus oriolus; Red-rumped swallow - Cecropis daurica; Sand martin - Riparia riparia), among which a real stunner: a Montagu's harrier (Circus pygargus).
