Le reti sono state riaperte dopo il maltempo e ora tutto é tranquillo, perció il team CISCA mi ha permesso di illustrare le attività della stazione da un punto di vista esterno.
The nets are back up after the storm, but since things have been quiet, CISCA have kindly allowed me to give an outside perspective on operations here.
Siamo fortunati ad’essere qui all’inizio della stagione poiché abbiamo potuto assistere all’arrivo dei primi individui di alcune specie, quali: Passera Scopaiola, Passera Mattugia, e Torcicollo, senza dimenticare la per noi rarissima Rondine Montana!
We have been privileged to be here to see the first of the season of the following species: Dunnock, Tree Sparrow, and Wryneck, not forgetting the especially rare Crag Martin!
É stato sorprendente anche vedere tanti Occhiocotti e Sterpazzoline: benché questi siano frequenti in questo periodo a Ponza, noi non li vediamo tanto spesso nel Regno Unito!
Addirittura, i Codirossi Comuni e i Codirossi Spazzacamino sono in declino nel Regno Unito, quindi é bello per noi vederne cosí tanti qui.
It has also been exciting to see lots of Sardinian Warblers and Eastern Subalpine Warblers: although these are common at this time of year on Ponza, we do not see them very often in the UK!
Common Redstarts and Black Redstarts are in decline in the UK, so it’s good to see so many of them here.
In più, stiamo imparando dagli esperti come determinare il sesso e la età degli varie specie, e anche come s’inannella in Italia. Abbiamo anche provato sulla nostra pelle cosa vuol dire affrontare una pettirossata: bisogna essere efficienti!
Personalmente, io sono nuova al mondo dell’inanellamento, per quello é stato ancora più speciale imparare cosí tanto, sia in inglese che in italiano!
We’ve also been learning from the experts on how to sex and age the various species, and how ringing and processing works in Italy – not to mention how amazingly efficient the team here are at dealing with an indundation of robins.
Personally, I am brand new to the world of ringing, so it’s been especially exciting to learn so much, in both English and Italian!
