In questi giorni era previsto un nuovo fronte di cattivo tempo, che non ha tardato ad occupare il cielo sull'Isola di Ponza. Quindi, nei giorni precedenti siamo stati tenuti occupati alle reti da un discreto passaggio di uccelli.
Non siamo stati sottoposti ad un'ulteriore pettirossata, ma comunque i numeri di uccelli inanellati totalizzati è stato buono. Infatti, martedì 2 aprile abbiamo inanellato 214 uccelli, mentre ieri 3 aprile 307 uccelli, fra cui il primo esemplare della stagione di Monachella. Abbiamo dovuto chiudere le reti ieri alle 18.45, poichè il vento si era fatto sempre più intenso, accompagnato da un po' di pioggia.
Stamattina, durante una breve finestra di tempo favorevole (meno di due ore), abbiamo tentato di aprire parte delle reti meno esposte, così inanellando 13 uccelli in tutto. Sfortunatamente, il vento continua a soffiare a una media di 20 nodi, per cui non possiamo fare altro che rimanere chiusi e aspettare fino a domani.
In these days a new bad weather front was forecasted to come, and therefore we had quite some birds passing over the island, keeping us busy at the nets.
We did not have any other big wave of pettirossi during the night time, but still the number of birds ringed are quite good, for instance on Tuesday the 2nd of April we got in total 214 birds. Yestrday, on the 3rd of April, we ringed 307 birds, among which also the first specimen of Blackeared Wheatear. We closed the nets at 18.45, since the wind was getting more intense and it was sarting to rain a bit.
Today, in the morning, we tried to open the net during a short period of time with favourable weather conditions (less than 2 hours), and we captured 13 birds. Unfortunately, the wind blowing at an average of 20 knots forced us to close again and to wait until tomorrow.
