Il meteo non è poi così male, con sole splendente alternato a cielo nuvoloso. Il numero di uccelli inanellati non è cospicuo: poco più di 80 catture ieri, sabato 13 aprile, e circa 150 nell'arco della giornata di oggi.
The weather is not so bad, with shining sun alternating with cloudy skies. The number of ringed birds is not that big though: a little bit more than 80 catches yesterday, Saturday 13th of April, and around 150 for today.
Questo weekend sono arrivate alle nostre reti due ospiti tipici del periodo: un maschio adulto di rigogolo, con il manto giallo come i fiori di ginestra della macchia mediterranea, e un più mimetico esemplare di calandro. Entrambi sono i primi esemplari della propria specie per la stagione 2019.
This weekend two typical guests of the period arrived at our networks: an adult male of a golden oriole, with a yellow coat like the blooming flowers of the Mediterranean scrub, and a tawny pipit, characterised as a more mimetic species. Both of them are the firs specimen of their species for the season 2019.
Il rigogolo (Oriolus oriolus) è una specie abbastanza frequente di passo su Ponza, con una media di 75 esemplari inanellati all'anno. In tutto fino ad ora abbiamo inanellato 1197 esemplari e, fatta eccezione per il 2002, non è passata stagione senza che non si catturasse un rigogolo.
Il calandro (Anthus campestris), invece, è meno presente, e questo è solo il 39° catturato in tutta la storia della stazione di Ponza. Solo nel 2007 e nel 2009 abbiamo avuto un picco di cattura con 7 esemplari catturati in tutto in ciascuna stagione.
The golden oriole is a fairly frequent species on Ponza, with an average of 75 specimens ringed per year. Up to now we have ringed 1197 specimens and, except for 2002, no season has passed without a golden oriole being captured. The tawny pipit, instead, is less present, and this is only the 39th specimen captured in the whole history of the station of Ponza. Only in 2007 and 2009 we had a captures' peak with 7 specimens ringed in total for each season.
